The Fantasy Was Never Me
Dreamgirl Diaries™
Can I tell you something I've noticed?
Sometimes you apologize before you even tell me your fantasy.
Not because you're ashamed of wanting it.
Because you're worried about what it says about you.
You tell me you've never told another soul.
You tell me your wife doesn't know.
Or maybe she knows you have fantasies, but not these fantasies.
Then you wait.
Almost like you're expecting me to judge you.
I don't.
I get curious.
Because after years of these conversations, I've learned that your fantasy usually isn't about replacing the person you love.
It's about exploring the part of yourself you've kept hidden.
Maybe you're the one making decisions all day.
Maybe you're the one everyone depends on.
Maybe you've spent so many years being responsible that you've forgotten what curiosity feels like.
Fantasy gives you permission to visit that place for a little while.
Not because your life isn't enough.
Because you're more than the role you've been living.
I don't think you're searching for another life.
I think you're searching for another version of yourself.
The one that's playful.
Curious.
Unfiltered.
The one that isn't worried about getting it right.
The fantasy was never really about me.
It was about what you finally allowed yourself to feel.
That's why I always hope you leave with more than a memory.
I hope you leave understanding yourself a little better.
Because if you can name what you're actually searching for, you'll stop confusing fantasy with identity.
And that's when the conversation gets really interesting.
XOXO,
Your Dreamgirl®
